This workshop introduces participants to a framework for evaluating programs and demonstrating results according to different audiences/stakeholders’ needs. The framework clarifies the audience for the evaluation, short, intermediate and long-range outcomes, the data collection and analyses plan, and how to manage the evaluation over time. Participants are also introduced to various types of performance measures in connection with a SMART planning model.
This is a hands-on demonstration and practice course for participants who want to learn how to facilitate the three collaborative methods that are the foundation of the Technology of Participation: focused conversation, the consensus workshop method, and action planning.
Participants learn how to facilitate a participatory, consensus-based approach to strategic planning for establishing a solid foundation for organizational/workgroup/committee/ coalition success. The course weaves ToP methods into an integrated approach that builds on group learning, participation, and consensus. The end product goes beyond process with a plan that is realistic, achievable, supported, and easy to manage through to implementation and results. (Prerequisite: TFM)

Making Data Dance focuses on designing participatory processes for data gathering, review and analysis. We illustrate ways to ground groups in the data they need to make better decisions using the Focused Conversation and Consensus Workshop methods; share a straightforward tool to gather stakeholder perceptions; and provide an opportunity for you to actively participate in and apply the methods we share.
Facilitating group creativity and innovative action has always been a challenge, perhaps never more so than when a group is tasked to “think out of the box” on the spot and come up with new solutions to a problem or situation. This is a highly interactive course that utilizes creative tools to explore and practice group innovation.
